I had never truly understood what it meant to serve God with all my heart until I went on this mission trip to Honduras. The culture is different from where I live in the US and for the first time, I realized how deeply the people there rely on Christ in every aspect of their lives. Serving others through Christ became one of the most meaningful and rewarding experiences I have ever had.
Even though the days were long and very warm, everyone found the strength to push through with a shared purpose: serving the children and their communities. Along the way, we made countless memories—from team meals and playing with the kids to making lasting friendships with team members. The environment was so energetic and uplifting that it was nearly impossible to have a bad day.
This trip gave me a new perspective on life and helped me better understand the many ways God can work through you when you are willing to serve.

Simple Acts: Leaving a Lasting Mark
I have had the pleasure of serving on two medical mission trips to Honduras; a memory that has stayed with me in a deeply personal way. Each day, we were met by children whose smiles carried both resilience and quiet hope. As a Physician Assistant I provided basic medical care and handed out vitamins to multiple communities; this felt small in my hands, yet was monumental in their lives—simple acts that helped protect their health and showed them they were seen and valued. I remember the trust in their eyes as we listened to their hearts and lungs and the gratitude expressed through shy smiles and hugs that needed no translation.
The impact we made on the Honduran community went far beyond the treatments we provided. By showing up with compassion, patience, and respect, we offered reassurance that they were not forgotten. Our presence helped strengthen families, supported children’s growth and wellness, and brought a sense of encouragement to a community facing limited access to care. In return, I was changed just as much—reminded of the power of service and how genuine human connection can bridge any distance. That trip reinforced my belief that even the simplest care, given with love, can leave a lasting mark on both the giver and the receiver.

Gracias & Villages
I had the pleasure and blessing of being a part of Monica’s medical team to visit Gracias and help care for the people that live in nearby villages. I brought along my pre-teen daughter to experience life in a country outside our own. It was the highlight of our summer to be a part of this team and being able to minister to the medical needs of the people of Honduras. They were so gracious and our trip was a memorable one. Our pastor here recently spoke about how serving others as believers in Jesus is a distinctive religous joy and it was such a joy to serve the people of Honduras, alongside the staff of the church there in Gracias. My daughter is already asking if we can go again this year.

Returned feeling more blessed
I recently spent a week in Honduras, serving on a medical mission, and it was an incredibly meaningful experience. Our team had the opportunity to provide much needed medications to individuals and families who otherwise had limited access to care. Seeing the gratitude and hope on peoples faces was deeply humbling and reminded me how powerful simple acts of service can be. I went there, hoping to be a blessing to others, but I returned, feeling even more blessed by the kindness, resilience, and faith of the people we served. This mission reinforced my desire to continue supporting and promoting outreach efforts that bring compassion and practical help to those in need.

What a Change
“When I was blessed with the opportunity to go down to Honduras, I said yes without a second thought. Right when we arrived there I just felt such a change, I felt the love for family and Jesus so much down there. Being able to help the amount of people that we did was so incredible and all of those individuals, each one of them truly changed my life for the better, and I will never forget them and all their kindness. Their culture is so family oriented and filled with so much joy, and it was so special to see and be apart of that when I was down there. I will definitely be going back as often as I can and that trip truly did change my life and made me appreciate every moment so much more.”

What a Change
It was such a pleasure and blessing to join Monica and her team providing care in Honduras with Sowers 4 Pastors. This organization is a wonderful group of dedicated Christian people to become acquainted with.
My job was to check vision and if appropriate fit the people for reading glasses, in many instances so that they could read their Bible. The people were so grateful for their glasses that they were a blessing to me. It was such a great experience that without hesitance, I plan to go again. It was eye-opening to provide medical care in another culture!
